Again I have left my 6 readers for over a year. Since my last post a ton of stuff has happened that has kept me from sharing all of my amazing thoughts and ideas for the past year. 2022 has been a very tough year. Many peaks and valleys which of course make life feel like a roller coaster sometimes.
The year started out on an extremely high note. My son, Ryan introduced Tammy and I to his girlfriend Katelin and she is an amazing young woman. Katelin is an elementary school teacher, 2nd Grade I think and has a ton of energy for those children. She is very friendly and not shy and the first time we all met there was instantly a great bond. Tammy and I see how fantastic Katelin is and how lucky Ryan is to be with her. They are very cute couple and we couldn't be happier!
The month of March was a back breaker. Tammy and I were supposed to go to Jamaica to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. However, on March 4th we found out that Gracie Skinner (Tammy's Mom) had been diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. We were all devastated. March, April and May all Tammy and I did was care for her mom. Tammy and her cousin Amanda Sosbe who were already pretty close, became more like sisters during the time where we were all caring for Gracie. We lost mom on May 19th. It still rips me apart to this day to think about how amazing Gracie was to me, Ryan and of course Tammy.
June and July were a grind with my baseball tournament business. Working 9 straight weeks at 120 hours per week. Woof brutal!! It did help keep my mind off all the things we had to do to at Tammy's Mom and Dad's house. Tammy and Amanda ran a couple of small yard sales to try to lessen the burden of having to clean out the house and get it ready to be sold. I think we ran 3 estate sales in August and into September. The amount of love and support we received from family and friends was unmeasurable. The saying it takes a village could not have rung more true.
Late September, Tammy and I got away for a little while. We went to Atlanta to watch the Braves play the Phillies at Truist Park. We had an amazing time. Went back in October with my buddy Brian McAllister to watch the NLDS games against the same Phillies. On October 20th Tammy got to finally celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and took that trip to Jamaica. Spent two days at Sandals Montego Bay and eight days at Sandals Negril. It was a dream vacation and much needed. I truly love taking Tammy to the Caribbean. Its our happy place!!
During the spring while we were loving and caring for Tammy's mom we had found out that Tammy has a very high chance of getting some form of cancer. Tammy and her doctors have devised a plan to lower her percentages. November 16th was the first step to combat the cancer percentages by having a total hysterectomy. There is nothing in this world that tears me up like seeing my wife in a hospital bed. Happy that the surgery was successful and the biopsy results on the tissues were negative. Looking to schedule a double mastectomy to make every effort to lower the chance of cancer as much as possible.
Here were are eleven days from Christmas and of course have not done any shopping. LOL. I suck at life but I am an amazing procrastinator. I wanted to wish all 6 of you that read this a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 2023 has got to be better than '22. I will try really hard not to disappear for a year for you that do read this blog. I will leave you with this. Christmas is the promise but Easter is the proof. Love you all!
