The good citizens of the United States of America have had all year to hear the debates and analyze our potential candidate's "promises". It all comes down to today. Thank the Lord that it is almost over.
Now that the Major League Baseball season is over the Commissioner's Office, Managers, Coaches, and Baseball Writers Association will begin the voting process for the post season individual awards. Lets see how bad I am at choosing these winners. Please remember these are for fun. I probably missed all of them...but it was fun doing the quick research and reading about each player and their successes. Good luck to all the nominees.
American League MVP - Nominees - 1. Mookie Betts, Red Sox 2. Jose Altuve, Astros and 3. Mike Trout, Angels - Coach Bale's pick is Mookie Betts - all three great players with great years but Mookie at least led his team to the playoffs.
National League MVP - Nominees - 1. Kris Bryant, Cubs 2. Daniel Murphy, Nationals and 3. Corey Seager, Dodgers. Love watching all three of these guys play. Coach Bale's pick - Kris Bryant - Led his team all year and then led the Cubs to baseball's promised land.
American League Cy Young Award - Nominees - 1. Justin Verlander, Tigers 2. Rick Porcello, Red Sox and 3. Corey Kluber, Indians - I want Corey Kluber to win...kind of a consolation prize for not winning the series. However Coach Bale's pick - Rick Porcello with his 22 wins over 223 innings will grab this prize.
National League Cy Young Award - Nominees - 1. Kyle Hendricks, Cubs 2. Maz Scherzer, Nationals and 3. Jon Lester, Cubs - Super tough one to guess - Not very sure about his one but Coach Bale's pick - Jon Lester...even though he can't throw to a base...he sure can throw it to his catcher.
American League Rookie of the Year - Nominees - 1. Gary Sanchez, Yankees 2. Michael Fulmer, Tigers and 3. Tyler Naquin, Indians. I can't believe that I am picking a Yankee to win anything. Coach Bale's pick - Gary Sanchez played in only one-third of the season and in 50 games had 20 dingers and hit almost .300.
National League Rookie of the Year - Nominees 1. Corey Seager, Dodgers 2. Kenta Maeda, Dodgers and 3. Trae Turner, Nationals. Trae Turner sure tore it up this year and we got to see Corey play for a couple of weeks last year and he lit it up. Coach Bale's pick - Corey Seager
American League Manager of the Year - Nominees - 1. Buck Showalter, Orioles 2. Jeff Banister, Rangers and 3. Terry Francona Indians - this should be a no brainer. Coach Bale's pick - Terry Francona led the Indians to the 7th game of the World Series, Right! I am sure that Buck and Jeff had great years but, come'on Terry won the AL Pennant
National League Manager of the Year - Nominees - 1. Dusty Baker, Nationals 2. Joe Maddon Cubs and 3. Dave Roberts, Dodgers - this one could be much tougher. The obvious choice would be Joe Madden (Cubs win, Cubs win), however Dave Roberts was amazing all year. Coach Bale's pick - Dave Roberts is my NL Manager of the year.
