On the anniversary of my first blog post I thought I would jump on my soap box about the 2017 World Series. First I would like to mention that this has been an amazing series and have been so impressed with both the Astros and the Dodgers. Two unbelievable teams just competing their guts out. So fun to watch. Not a fan of either team but I have found myself rooting for the Dodgers for a couple of reasons. Local right handed pitcher Walker Buehler is a LA Dodger and got to pitch a few innings at the end of the season during the 40 man. Also a couple of years ago when I went to Phoenix with Willie Blair to the San Diego Padres spring training camp, and I got to meet Dave Roberts the current Dodger manager. Dave was such a joy to hang out with and talk baseball and I am so glad I got to meet him. I don't have anything against the Astros and if they manage to win tonight that would be great for the city of Houston.
No matter who wins the series, it has been great. Anyone that says baseball is boring is just too hard to entertain. Every pitch from game one through last night has been so exciting. I am so sad that the season will be complete after tonight. I know that I am already looking forward to next season and all the greatness that it will unfold.
My title for this blog post is a sarcastic poke at the game start times. How are we as parents, coaches of future baseball players supposed to keep our little players engaged to the game when it doesn't even start until bedtime for most eastern time zone children. Why can't the MLB see that if the number of youth players is diminishing nation wide. Children are losing interest and the last two world series have been so good. Maybe if they games started a little earlier some of these children would be allowed to stay up and watch these great games.
Thank for reading that's my 2 cents about the game start times...go Dodgers!
