Wow! This is the very busy time of year for Champions. I first need to apologize to my few readers for not posting in over a month. Not the best way to run a blog but this is the only one I have ever run and I am still learning. Since my last blog about breaking in gloves I have been to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) National Convention in Anaheim California, completed (almost) Champions Winter Indoor League, and this Wednesday night we complete the High School and Youth Infield camp. It has been a very fast 5 weeks. Baseball season is upon us and I know that there is so much more to do to be ready for the season. If you have a youth ball player that needs to get after it, give me a call. Time is short.
In April Tammy and I will have been married 25 years! Wow, time flies. It seems like yesterday when we were students at Milligan College in Tennessee. Now we have a son graduating college in May, sheesh! Since we will be in Sarasota for Champions Spring Break Camp on our anniversary April 4th, I thought I should really do something really nice for Tammy for the big 25. Google says that traditional gift is silver and the modern gift is sterling silver. Well, I went with travel. I am taking Tammy to Sandals in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I guess if you are gonna go...go big! I truly cannot wait for this trip. When I worked for Safety- Kleen we went to an all inclusive resort back in 1993 to JW Marriott Marco Island Resort. Other than that trip all of our "vacation time" has been centered around baseball. Don't be confused, I have loved our baseball trips and would do them all over again. However, this will be the first true vacation since before Ryan was born.
When we get back from Jamaica we will be finalizing Champions Spring Break Camp. Spring Break - April 3-7, I am really hoping that we get more players in our Camp in Sarasota. We always have such a good time. A lot of the regulars have grown up and won't be attending this year due to obligations with their high school programs. Hopefully we can get a new generation of players to attend. If you are looking for great vacation spot and don't want to get out of practice right before the season then this is the camp for you. We do baseball from 9-noon and the rest of the time is centered around family. If you are looking for that beach vacation but don't want to lose all the work you put in over the winter than sign up and come to Sarasota with us.
We are only 11 days away from High School baseball tryouts. I am wishing the best for all the players. Hard work pays off. The coaches will see it in your play. Good luck to all the schools in our area. Hoping all the local schools have great seasons. I can't wait to watch you all play!
