17 Degrees. Yuck! My hands hurt, my teeth are chattering and its only December 16th. Good news is that this is temporary. We will be back to our normal 40ish degrees next week but that is pretty awful too. I know that winter is an important part of God's seasonal plan but whoa...I'm not a big fan. If Tammy and I could afford it we would definitely be Snow Birds. We would move to south Florida after Thanksgiving and come back to Lexington in late April, maybe May. I always thought that was silly but I can see the reasons. Today there are 17 of them!
Another reason I love baseball. Boys of Summer!!!! However in Kentucky Baseball starts in February and the weather isn't really summer like. Sometimes we have some pretty miserable weather for our early spring games. Personally I don't remember how cold it was when I played ball with the exception of one Saturday game in Harrisonburg Va. (I went to high school in Crozet, Virginia). All I remember is we played 7 innings in some of the coldest weather I can remember. In the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded and 2 outs we walked in the winning run. However, I noticed that the runner on first never made it to second base and on appeal he was called out and the run was taken off the board. Great! Not really, we played 3 more innings in the freezing cold only to lose in the 10th. Bummer! So every time it gets this cold I remember that game!
All I can focus on when its this cold is the Champions Spring Break Camp. This year its a little later than the last couple of years which will hopefully make for a very warm week in Florida. I will gladly exchange snowballs for beach balls by the time Spring Break gets here. So the count down begins.108 days until Spring Break Camp. Whew! I can't wait.
